Henry Costa
Dance Choreographer and Instructor- Hopping Mad! Dance ProductionsI started Line Dancing 27 years ago after a friend thought I was spending too much time studying at college and thought I deserved to have a little fun in my life too. I was shown an ad for Line Dance classes at
Swiss Park in Newark, CA. I attended my first Line Dance class learning “
Traveling Four Corners” and “
Diamonds Are Forever” taught by
Charlotte Skeeters and
Neil Hale. I was very fortunate to learn from both of them. They were both a big influence in my dancing career and have been positive role models to me ever since. I choreographed my first dance “
You Know I Love You” in December of 1997 and it was taught for the first time during the classes at Swiss Park. I have been choreographing dances ever since, including official dances for Country Artists
Ernie Oldfield, J.W. Houston,
Jewels Hanson and the
California Cowboys. I have now choreographed 48 dances to date. Some of my most memorable events where when I appeared and opened up concerts and public events with country artists such as the
Zac Brown Band,
The Band Perry, Joey + Rory,
Jamie O’Neil, Jerrod Niemann just to name a few. They were always fun plus the events gave me a chance to introduce line dancing to people who have never experienced it and give them some fun memories to remember for the rest of their lives. I currently teach Beginner and Intermediate lessons every Thursday Night at the
Fremont Adult and Continuing Education in Fremont, CA.. The best thing about teaching dance is that not only are people having fun learning and dancing but, I am helping them have a healthy and happy life. My biggest goal is to help continue the tradition of Line Dance for many more current and future generations to enjoy!
See you on the dance floor and have fun dancin’!
